Crossed The Tiber

An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism

My Photo
Name:
Location: Pennsylvania, United States

I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

Positively Judgement Street

Dr. Francis Beckwith, philosophy professor at Baylor University, author, speaker and former president of the Evangelical Theological Society came back to the Catholic Church after spending most of his life as a devout Protestant. Despite the fact that this was two years ago, he still continues to be the subject of intense debate and discussion among our separated brethren bloggers. The latest discussion is regarding whether he is really saved or not.
Well I came upon a little parody on u tube that attempts to respond to this sad state of affairs regarding the analysis of Dr. Beckwith's soul in a Dylanesque fashion. Let's keep Dr. Beckwith and all other convert/reverts in our prayers and pray that God uses their testimony to change the hearts of those so opposed to the Catholic faith.

You see, the "P" in the TULIP acrostic doesn't really represent "Persistance," but "Protestant." You are saved only as long as you contnue to understand salvation in the same manner as you did before. If your understanding changes, suddenly your salvation itself slips through the nail-pierced hands of Christ.

It's funny how Calvinism argues that no act of a man can contribute to his own salvation in the slightest, while in its practical application, any man can undo his salvation by walking into a confessional, confessing his sins, asking for forgiveness and repenting.

Well said Anon.
When it comes to converting to Catholicism, the Tulipers suddenly change their theology of the perseverance of the saints. Since they believe Catholicism is a false gospel, they will now allow that the "work" of entering the Catholic Church is indeed efficacious in causing the loss of salvation. Theological pretzel twisting I guess.

This is so clever! My compliments to the singer. After I heard it I had to go right to Return to Rome to see if Francis Beckwith had posted a reaction. Julie

Yeah, Julie, it seems that this guy on the video sure knows what he's talking about! Sounds like he's been taken down the "judgment road" a few times himself. God bless.

BTW, can you contact me offline at
dobrodoc1 (at) gmail (dot) com ?
thanks

For heaven's sake! It is really a terrible thing to be talking about a man like that. I am right there with Anonymous... The "understanding" is everything to them. So, if you see it from a different standpoint you are crossing the line into damnation practically. I have not crossed any river and yet I got the "You have rejected the Gospel of Grace" letter in the mail. Even worse when people that you love don't know your heart.

Who can say what is in Beckwith's heart?

Blessings to you both in the name of Christ our Lord,

"Even worse when people that you love don't know your heart.'
yeah, george, that's what hurts the most. But it's definitely something to offer up for the
conversion of their hearts.
