Why Be Catholic? Suffering
Dr. Jeff Mirus has a great article in his series "Why Be Catholic? Check out this essay that explains the distinctive Catholic understanding of suffering.
An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism
I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

The real problem is not why some pious, humble, believing people suffer, but why some do not.-CSLewis
Only in America, mostly, do some Christians find it so very hard to suffer, patiently, and with thanksgiving. (which is Catholic teaching and really 'life giving' in every sense, even though painful) Some of our seperated brethren even think we shouldn't have to suffer 'because Christ died for us on the cross' and "took" our suffering and quote "by His stripes we are healed." Crazy but so sadly true.
