Crossed The Tiber
An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism
About Me
- Name: Russ Rentler, M.D.
- Location: Pennsylvania, United States
I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

Hey that was lovely.
thanks so much!
A beautiful rendition of Joni Mitchell's lovely song. I feel sad when I think of this fellow Canadian and Catholic who has for so long been and so openly anti-Catholic (whether intentionally or indirectly).
Her album distributed solely through Starbucks a few years back was the most open affront. It's not that there isn't truth in what she says pertaining esp to the modern Church but if her goal was to help I would think there are much better ways to go about it even gvien her right and need to artistic expression. Perhaps her struggle will one day bring her to conversion by the grace of God.
None of that takes away from this song or your rendition --just musing.
Thanks Owen for the kind remarks. I actually wrote to Starbux when they carried that CD and they wrote back basically telling me to jump in a lake. I suggested that there was a lot of Catholics who drink coffee and they were unmoved.
Regarding Joni, there's always hope!
I think a number of people were told the same thing. On the other hand, I'm not a customer simply because it's too expensive.
Russ, thanks for the music. Great arrangement and I'm going to be working on stealing it, unless you send me tab or sheet music to make it easier .... Really well done.
Thanks to Owen for pointing me to another post on this blog and getting me here.
As for Sarbucks, you don't need any more reasons not to drink their burned coffee - but they are financially supporting the Gay Marriage bill in Washington State.
Hey Paul thanks for stopping by. Any friend / fan of Owen is a friend of mine. I diont have tab and cant reab music but if you like i can post another video doing it slower and with focus on the fretboard.
@Paul, so glad you arrived on Russ's blog. He is a wonderful re-vert, an M.D. and a medical missionary with numerous trips to Haiti in his kit bag. If you can. spend a little time back reading this blog. It's worth it. Also look up his original music. I was and I say this honestly, listening to one of my personal favorites today, *Mary, Untier of Knots.* My life is one big knot so I appreciate this prayerful, faith encouraging song.
