Jack T. Chick Works for Edwards?
I normally attempt to stick to more devotional posts but this post on Curt Jester is too outrageous. I learned all my theology, as a 14 year old, from the volumes of Chick tracts I read and crammed my skull full of mush with. I guess I wasn't the only one so schooled in such anti-Catholic rants. What is surprising and disturbing was the degree of vitriol and profanity leveled at Catholic/Christian belief.
Despite the perhaps "humorous" and "blogadacious" aspect of this recent early campaign gaff of a possible contender for the 2008 White House, it points to the reality that Catholic bashing is the last acceptable prejudice left in America. Somehow though, I am encouraged that Catholicism does not become mainstream as many denominations have. I take comfort in the reality that Catholicism lived out as it was intended will always be counter-cultural and the target for derision, abuse and out right persecution. Perhaps, we need to take heart in the Sacred Scripture that says all who live Godly lives in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution, and corporately, His Church as well.
Now should we just move on and ignore this recent attack on the Church and Christianity?
I suggest writing to John Edwards here and encouraging him to take the path of righteousness
and make restitution for his campaign staff comments. (Something Catholics call Penance)

As milquetoast as our bishops seem, and how Laodicean many Catholics may be, it's good to be reviled for all the right reasons. Like Ma wrote earlier. The Church is still known by her doctrinal opposition to the World's favourite vices. May it long be so.

As painful as these attacks are against our Lord and the Blessed Mother, it's the same story that the Church has faced for 2000 years,(and the Jews for thousands of years before that) and quite frankly, I find comfort that we are in the same camp with the Church that faces such vitriol.
I also threw a couple quid towards the Catholic League as well yesterday.
c’mon... lighten up. the CHURCH as not only been BASHING people for CENTURIES its been torturing and maiming them and killing them into religious submission . just look at its history. it the REASON I LEFT such a hideous and evil organization . the LAST place one would find GOD is in a CHURCH. . its to covered over with centuries of hateful dogma and lies. deception, and most certainly untruths. Again I say. all one has to do is LOOK AT ITS HISTORY!!!!!!!!
people are TIRED of it and thats why they are rebelling back. IF the church had its ways it would keep people in the DARK AGES for no other reason than its all about CONTROL.
A perfect example is just LOOK at that Neanderthal running around in all that religious drag you call a POPE..

looking at its history is one thing. looking at it objectively is quite another. it's clear that you have not taken time to read the Church's side and would rather find comfort in distorted pictures, outright lies, and openly proscribed vendettas against the Church. making assertions with nary a shred of evidence is called frivolity. is there some moral issue underlying this virulent tirade? you speak of perspectives, satt, yet are unable to put our documented beliefs and actions into one.
as for edwards, his two ignorant and hateful bloggers fell on their swords. but the damage has been done with his inaction and tacit endorsement of hate speech. john edwards, you are the weakest link...good bye.
