USCCB Responds to the HHS "Compromise" Yeah Bishops!!!

Basically the USCCB says that the HHS Mandate has to be rescinded, and the compromise is not a solution. EWTN , by the way, is suing the Administration over this.  Unfortunately liberals are cheering this solution including Sister Carol Keehan who spearheaded the approval of Obamacare while earning the ire of the USCCB blaming her for the passage of Obamacare!

"But stepping away from the particulars, we note that today's proposal continues to involve needless government intrusion in the internal governance of religious institutions, and to threaten government coercion of religious people and groups to violate their most deeply held convictions. In a nation dedicated to religious liberty as its first and founding principle, we should not be limited to negotiating within these parameters. The only complete solution to this religious liberty problem is for HHS to rescind the mandate of these objectionable services."

  1. Hopefully when the Supreme Court hears the challenge to Obamacare next month the whole law will go away and Obama will be left with one fewer tool to bend others to his will.

  2. On an only peripherally related note, I would like to thank you, Dr. Rentler, for your kind remarks in response to my daughter's guest blog post on Sententias.org (she tells of her experiences as a Catholic at a large Evangelical institution). Her post has thus far garnered over 200 views, but the comments are running slightly to the anti-Catholic side. Should one of your readers feel led, we could use a few more Catholic voices in the combox. Many people who otherwise wouldn't read anything "Catholic" are reading this. Thank you!

  3. To shoshana's dad
We have enlisted our happy little group of fb apologists to share on that blog. May God use it to help protestants come as you did. Would you be willing to share your story on my blog? Thanks

  4. Just when things looked darkest, Calvary's Cavalry comes thundering over the hill..... Well, at least that's how things looked to us when we saw all the supportive posts today on Sententias. We thank everyone who responded for taking the time to present Catholicism to many who have never heard this "from the horse's mouth," so to speak. Pastors in our neck of the woods actually warn their congregations about the "errors of the Roman system," so it means a great deal to us to have this witness on a blog read by so many bright Protestant minds. (Max, the blogmaster, is a brilliant young graduate assistant and a Protestant philosopher. My daughter was honored when he so graciously invited her to share her experience with his audience.)
My daughter is somewhat overwhelmed by all this, as she is not used to the rough-and-tumble of Protestant/Catholic discussions in the comboxes. Your coming-alongside was tremendously appreciated!

We would be happy to share our story with those who have so kindly shared their time with us. Did you mean our family's story, or Shoshana's specifically?

Thanks again, and if you would like to continue following Max's blog, I know informed Catholic commentary would always be welcome there. He seriously believes that there needs to be more dialogue.

    P.S. - I am Shoshana's mother :)

  5. Hey Renee! I am happy to hear from you! I would love to hear you and your husband's story and I would post it on here and on our facebook page. I invite you to become a member of our fb page "Catholics Are Christians!"
I started the group about 2 years ago when I saw a fb group called Catholics Are not Christians! In less than a month we had over 2000 members!!! Our purpose is to share the Catholic faith with whoever is out there who will listen. Many of us are former protestants and or reverts and live in daily awe of the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith and the ability for the sacraments to change our lives. So I asked the folks on CAC to venture over there to sentiatis and in a few hours the combox filled! Unfortunately the blog owner is screening because several folks including myself did not get all our posts published, but some is better than none. God bless your daughter to be in the middle of the fray.
Here's the link if you would like to come on board.

If you guys write up your story, let me know and I would love to post it. i love how the new social media has given a shot in the arm to the New Evangelization. Praise God!

  6. Absolutely! Your comments posted on Sententias have reached an audience that might never otherwise hear a Catholic speak about his faith! I am pleased that someone posted this evening concerning the HHS mandate - a theme of the original piece that has kind of gotten lost in the shuffle. As the man said, if we don't all hang together on this, we shall surely all hang separately....

We would be proud to share our story with you - what format would you like to have it in, and what word count? Although I do not have a Facebook page and won't be able to see your site there, please tell everyone what a superb job they have done. We are blessed to count you as our family!
