Crossed The Tiber

An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism

My Photo
Name:
Location: Pennsylvania, United States

I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

Just the name has brought back many memories of my spiritual search through the 70's. Many faces , smells, clothing styles, musical instruments, feeling of crowds, song lyrics...all going through my mind since seeing this picture yesterday.

Larry Norman was part of my seeking and journey.

Jesus has brought me a long way and I thank Him for bringing me Home....

(those were some crazy days-many memories).

Larry's music benefited me back then and I pray 'that he would now see the Lord face to face', as my little breviary says in one of the prayers for our deceased loved ones.

I pray that one day I may see Larry and thank him for the part he played in helping me reach certain stages in my spiritual life.

So many people and things in this world are instruments of the Holy Spirit to bring us to where He wants us to be.

Larry was one weird and wonderful dude. I will never ever forget his line about growing out his hair to make room for his brain. And what a brain. When I saw the title of your post I thought for a second, yippie, the original Jesus hippie and arguably granddaddy of 'Christian rock' has come home to the Church. Now he's going home in a whole different way. God rest his soul.

Some of Larry's last words and thoughts.~ susie

I feel like a prize in a box of cracker jacks with God's hand reaching down to pick me up. I have been under medical care for months. My wounds are getting bigger. I have trouble breathing. I am ready to fly home.

My brother Charles is right, I won't be here much longer. I can't do anything about it. My heart is too weak. I want to say goodbye to everyone. In the past you have generously supported me with prayer and finance and we will probably still need financial help.

My plan is to be buried in a simple pine box with some flowers inside. But still it will be costly because of funeral arrangement, transportation to the gravesite, entombment, coordination, legal papers etc. However money is not really what I need, I want to say I love you.

I'd like to push back the darkness with my bravest effort. There will be a funeral posted here on the website, in case some of you want to attend. We are not sure of the date when I will die. Goodbye, farewell, we will meet again.

Goodbye, farewell, we'll meet again
Somewhere beyond the sky.
I pray that you will stay with God
Goodbye, my friends, goodbye.

Larry
