Crossed The Tiber

An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism

Location: Pennsylvania, United States

I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

Feast of the Birthday of the Lord's Mother, Mary

"All generations will call me blessed." Today is the day that the Universal Church fulfills this Scripture (among many other days) Today is the feast of the birth of the Blessed Mother of Our Lord. Today we honor Mary for her role in salvation history. We bless her, honor her, venerate her, look to her as a model of faith, and thank her for saying "Yes" to God. We also ask for her intercession because we know that the Lord will hear the prayers of his mom, if asked in accordance with His will.

But today we don't worship Mary because Catholics worship God alone! (Needless to say)

See here  and here how the early Christians honored Mary.

It is important to point out to my non-Catholic readers that the Church is always in the business of stomping out heresy and promoting truth. If the devotion to Mary was wrong, the Church would have squashed it the way it always came down hard on heresy. Clearly the early Christians revered Mary and also fulfilled scripture by calling her blessed. Do you want to be numbered in that generation that calls her blessed? (Lk 1:48)
