Crossed The Tiber

An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism

My Photo
Location: Pennsylvania, United States

I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

Notice the resemblence with the face of Christ in icons? Church tradition (Eastern Catholic and Orthodox) holds that St. Luke wrote up to 70 icons, three of which are the most well known today: Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Theotokos of Czestochowa, and Theotokos of Vladimir.

There are icons that are not made by human hands such as the "Shroud of Turin", Veronica's cloth, and the "Not Made by Human Hands" icon from a cloth He imprinted His face on for a King Abgar V of Edessa before His passion (Church tradtion). You can find the traditions of these icons and more on any good Orthodox or Eastern Catholic iconography site.

Here is a good informational web site on the Shroud of Turin. A team of scientists did research on the Shroud in Colorado. It is a pretty interesting site.
