Crossed The Tiber

An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism

My Photo
Location: Pennsylvania, United States

I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

Cardinal Dolan Prays the Closing Prayer at the RNC

It's a great blessing that the Republicans chose Cardinal Dolan, from all the possible religious leaders of many different religions, to close the convention.

Let’s face it: Cardinal Dolan is a Prince of the Church who wants to be King-maker.
But I’d like to humbly remind the good Cardinal, as he parades under the spotlights
of the political conventions: that there is room for only ONE real super-star in his religion.
The one who started it!
For as the Cardinal addresses and blesses the Republicans and their billionaire buddies,
as he smiles upon those who would destroy Social Security & voucher Medicare to death,
and as he struts on the stage with those who readily admit they “don’t care about the very poor” would be good for the dear Cardinal to remember -and take to heart-
the words of his boss, who once said “Whatsoever you do for the least of these - you do for me”.
Unless perhaps, ...just perhaps, the Cardinal is working for someone else these days?
Just asking.
Our Founding Fathers wisely realized that politics, secular power, and religion do not mix.
That they bring out the worst in each other, ....that ultimately they would destroy each other, and us.
A pastor.....should stick to his pulpit, not political conventions. Period.

but he's also closing the Democrats' Convention. Is that also a blessing?

Thanks for highlighting this prayer. I did not watch the convention, so i enjoyed praying with Archbishop Dolan.

Thank you again for always being so positive about the Catholic Church. I am inspired by your blog. Your postings are upbeat, informational and just the right length. We are grateful you "came back"!!

Yes it is a great blessing that he is closing the DNC! What it shows is that at the end of the day, despite the vitriol and abuse hurled at the Catholic faith, even the secular world still chooses a Catholic to pray the benediction. In my way of thinking it is an affirmation of our Catholic faith and indeed a great blessing, and a sign to the world.

Your comments are detractive not based in reality. Can you judge a man's heart?
He wants to be a kingmaker? What a laugh!!
Do you know what the red zuchetta they wear on their heads represents? It represents the blood of the martyrs and by accepting the position they acknowledge the possibility that they too will be martyred. You will be judged with the same judgment you mete out to others.
