Crossed The Tiber

An Evangelical Converts to Catholicism

My Photo
Name:
Location: Pennsylvania, United States

I was born into the Catholic faith. At 14, I was "born again" and found Jesus personally but lost His Church. After thirty years as an evangelical protestant, I have come full circle to find that He has been there all the time, in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I wish others to find the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith as I have found.

Trinity Sunday

The Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity

The first Sunday after Pentecost is when the Church celebrates the Trinity . If it wasn't for the Holy Spirit guiding the Church at those early councils. Who knows? We could all be Arians, Nestorians or Monophysites now. There were many bishops in the fourth century that adhered to the heresies springing up regarding the nature of Christ . It is amazing that despite a heresy 'round every corner, the Truth always prevailed. I posted on this last year here.

"The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and of Christian life. God alone can make it known to us by revealing Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

"The Incarnation of God's Son reveals that God is the eternal Father and that the Son is consubstantial with the Father, which means that, in the Father and with the Father, the Son is one and the same God.

"The mission of the Holy Spirit, sent by the Father in the name of the Son (John 14:26) and by the Son: from the Father (John 15:26), reveals that, with them, the Spirit is one and the same God. "With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified" (Nicene Creed).

"Inseparable in what they are, the Divine Persons are also inseparable in what they do. But within the single divine operation each shows forth what is proper to Him in the Trinity, especially in the divine missions of the Son's Incarnation and the gift of the Holy Spirit." The Catechism

TJ, this is great! ~ I started to comment, but it soon became a 'rant' on "mystery" and "submissiveness." I ended up copying and posting it on our blog. Funny how that works sometimes. : )

Godspeed!
